From Laughs to “Life Hacks”: Instagram Accounts I Love

3–5 minutes

Advent Calendar – 2 December

Day 2 of my Advent calendar is here, and today I’m sharing something that keeps me going on those long days (and nights!) of juggling work and family: Instagram accounts I love! Whether you’re looking for a good laugh, clever tips, or some heartfelt advice from other parents who just get it, these are my go-to favorites. They’ve helped me feel less alone, more inspired, and sometimes just plain amused in the beautiful chaos of family life.

First follow me 😉

@mummydidntknow is my little corner of Instagram where I share my honest experience parenting and everything Ilearn as aI muddle through! It’s a space where I post my blog updates alongside personal, (hopefully) relatable, and informative content. From the small wins to the bigger lessons, my aim is to connect with other parents juggling work, family, and everyday life. Whether it’s a tip I’ve picked up, a moment of reflection, or just something that made me laugh, I’d love for you to follow me to get the latest content first!

Relationships and Real Talk

@jimmy_on_relationships posts thoughtful yet humorous content about improving romantic relationships. His posts often include skits, discussion videos, and practical advice aimed at helping parenting couples communicate more effectively and deepen their understanding of one another. The style feels like a friend sharing tips and insights rather than offering therapy. I love how the mix of humour, relatability, and practical advice provides valuable support for navigating the challenges of partnership as new parents.

@mommy.realist, run by Samantha, is an American mum who shares a refreshingly unfiltered and often sarcastic take on parenting. Her content offers a much-needed contrast to the polished, picture-perfect versions of family life that flood social media. She uses humour and sharp insights to highlight that parenting isn’t always fun or shiny, and she balances this with thoughtful quotes about mental health and emotional growth as a parent. I love her ability to keep it real while still finding humour in the chaos.

Practical Tips

@budgetingmumofficial, Beth, a UK-based mum of two, shares useful advice on managing family finances. Her shopping and travel tips are some of my favourites—they’re packed with clever ways to save money while filling family life with enjoyable and memorable experiences. Her openness about her struggles makes the content feel refreshingly real, like advice from a friend rather than a polished influencer.

@momslovehacks posts ideas shared by parents from all over, bringing them together in one place. While I’ll admit I’m not a fan of the term “hacks” for what are often just good tips, the ideas here—whether it’s toy organisation or DIY activities for kids—are genuinely helpful. I appreciate how it saves me the legwork of searching for inspiration on those busy days when I’m short on time and energy.

Mental Well-Being and Organising Life

@anxietylifecleanwriter, Lisa, shares her experiences of managing anxiety, and how cleaning and decluttering have helped her along the way. She talks about the connection between our physical spaces and mental well-being, showing how simplifying your home can bring clarity and ease feelings of stress or overwhelm. Her advice is super practical often feels like a good natter with a friend who really gets it. I’ve found her tips on creating a calm and organised space really helpful for supporting a healthier mindset.

@wishidknownapp is a crowd-sourced account and community platform, with mums and dads sharing their stories and tips about the realities of parenthood. I’ve found comfort in knowing I wasn’t the only one who didn’t know much about pregnancy, giving birth, and life with a baby! If you like my blog, then you’ll like this account, too!

For German-Speaking Parents

@moms4moms_community is a German-language account runny by Jenny, which offers a wealth of support and resources for mothers. The content covers topics including parenting advice, family life, and self-care tips, all tailored to the needs of busy parents worried about becoming overwhelmed. The account also features personal stories and experiences, and offers ways to join a supportive community to connect and share insights.

@mama.meeting is a German-language Instagram account run by Juliana that focuses on the challenges working mums face. She highlights the legal and social barriers, as well as the imbalances, that many of us encounter while balancing careers and family life. Alongside raising awareness, she shares motivating content and relatable insights, offering encouragement to mums juggling it all.

These accounts have been a huge source of support for me—whether I’m looking for a laugh, a practical tip, or just to feel more understood. Many of my late-night breastfeeding hours have been spent scrolling through their posts! I’d love to know which Instagram accounts inspire or support you—share your favourites in the comments or tag me on Instagram. Let’s spread a little joy and connection this holiday season.

And don’t forget to check back tomorrow for Day 3 of my advent calendar!
